Juan R. Ortega-Barnett, MD

A native of Texas, Dr. Ortega moved to Mexico and enrolled at the Universidad La Salle Medical School. There he completed both his undergraduate and medical school training, receiving his Medical Doctorate. Following his training, he spent one year performing public service and then returned to Mexico City to complete residencies in both General and Neurosurgery. Dr. Ortega's interests in cranial surgery lead him to continue his training in the United States. He completed four years of general surgery at West Virginia University prior to completing a Neurosurgical residency, including one year as Chief Resident, at Pittsburgh Allegheny General Hospital. Dr. Ortega decided to specialize in brain tumor management and completed a fellowship at Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts under Dr. Peter McL. Black. Dr. Ortega joined South Shore NeuroSpine Group, LLC in 2007 and continues to pursue his clinical interests in brain tumor management, image-guided surgery, and the management of painful cranial neuropathies.
